Let’s face it. Anytime that you go on a diet it is almost extremely impossible to stay away from those oh so unhealthy fast food places. It is almost like they are addicting. You start a diet and you are doing well so far, you are one day into your diet and you have eaten nothing but healthy food. Then, you make the mistake of driving past a fast food place. You can smell the delicious fries, you can almost taste the cheeseburger that you just saw pictured on an ad on their front window. It’s almost impossible to keep driving. All you can think is “Well, maybe I will stop just this once, just as a treat for doing so well so far”. That’s the end of it though. The end of your diet!

As soon as you stop once, then you will stop again, and again and again. You just need to be strong and you have to learn to tell yourself no. You have to break away from your fast food addiction. It is almost as bad as a drug for some people. It is like it is calling out to you. It does not help that there are fast food places on almost every corner. There is just no way to avoid it! You could turn down a different street one day just to avoid your favorite fast food burger place but then you will just end up driving past your favorite fast food Mexican place. You almost start feeling like if you are going to succeed on your diet that you must stay home. I have found though, that if you just stay strong and tell yourself no, that after a couple days of not eating fast food then it’s really not so hard to tell yourself no. Just stay strong and remember how much better your body will look without all that fast food!

How to Become a Registered Nurse

There are two paths to learn how to become a registered nurse, or RN.  The first is a vocational two year program culminating in the awarding of the RN certificate.  These are programs most often available at community colleges.  Getting into these programs can take time as they are usually impacted, but matriculating students will be put on a waiting list where they will be granted admittance when their turn comes up.

To become a registered nurse you first need a curriculum for the student.  He or shee needs to complete includes basic sciences and prescribed clinical hours where hands on experience is gained.  Before going to work, the graduate will have to pass the state board NCLEX exam.

The RN certification program is an excellent way to break into the nursing field in a short period of time, and begin earning an excellent salary.  Depending on the state the student graduates in, nursing wages may be from $17-$25 per hour. There are limitations to taking this course of education however.  Advancement with only a two year degree is limited, as is the salary one can earn.  For the highest earnings, the nursing student needs to complete a bachelor’s degree.

The bachelor’s degree program in nursing is typically a four year program, which can be just as competitive to get admittance to.  While many of the courses are identical, and the required clinical hours are similar, additional coursework in liberal arts and other fields provide a more rounded education.  This affords the student an opportunity to apply to a master’s degree program after they graduate, as well.

Opportunities for management positions and access to specialties are more abundant for nurses with a B.A. or B.S. degree, and ultimately, the average earnings are much greater.  A nurse with a university degree is not limited to nursing, either.  Many sales positions open up to people with an advanced degree, and master’s programs require the bachelor’s for admittance.
