Let’s face it. Buying futon and choosing from a wide array of futon mattress that is available in the market nowadays, can be a very difficult and confusing task.

Here are some simple steps to follow when buying futon.

1. Choose the frame first, before choosing the mattress, regardless of it being used as a futon sofa, futon bed, and etc. A mattress that fits into a frame can easily be found, but a frame that is wide or proportional to the mattress is harder to find. It’s easier to fit in a mattress, rather than find a frame that the mattress fits in. Get the logic? There are lots and lots of frames out there, ranging from ones made out of wood to ones made out of metal, to the bi-folded ones and to the tri-folded ones. Each of which have their distinct advantages and disadvantages. It is best to consider the budget first, as well as the space of the room the futon will be used in.
2. After choosing the frame, choose the fitting and appropriate mattress. Aside from the proportions, consider the material that the mattress is made of. Is it filled with high-quality coil-springs? Or is a cotton-wool combination? The materials stuffed in the mattress plays a huge role in the longevity and the overall comfort experienced when using the futon. Also, do not choose a mattress for how it looks, but, for its quality and durability. If it looks good, and has high-quality and will last long, then good, that’s a very good choice.
3. Choose an appropriate cover. The cover makes up for the lack of aesthetic value of the bed, and so, choose a cover that is pleasing to the eye, and that will blend well with the design of the frame of the mattress.
