People who are looking for an inexpensive alternative to ruby rings often turn to cubic zirconia and heat treated stones to get the look they want. Its easy to understand why with the price of a quality genuine ring being so expensive. Blood red rubies from Burma can set the consumer back in excess of $2000 for a stone that is only 1/2 carat, and that price doesn’t include the gold band.
If two hundred sounds a price that is more up your street then you will be happy to hear you can find affordable real ruby rings if you are happy to get lower quality, heat treated gems. There are a few things you might want to know about rubies before you buy. What many people don’t understand is that most of the rubies you buy in the shops are going to have been treated to improve the way they look, even if you happen to be spending $500 on that new ring. If you opt for the cheapest of the ruby rings on the high street you are not going to get something that looks particularly red, or that has the sparkle you desire. It would be good use of a rare stone. That’s why all the real pigeon’s blood ruby rings from Burma have stones which are at least half a carat and cost a fortune.
