Ordering Colored Contacts Without a Prescription
Things can really change as time goes by. I was born in the 1970s and I’ve seen a lot of things change. I think kids today are going to see even more changes than what I’ve seen. One change that is pretty new still is changing the color of your eyes with colored contacts. Since this is now available, people may be wondering if thy can do this without a prescription.
If you do already wear contacts, then you can just use your same prescription. There is no difference.
If you do not wear contact lenses or if you’re just wearing glasses, then you may be surprised to find out that you do, indeed, need to get a prescription before you can order colored contacts. This is because a law was signed by President Bush that classified contact lenses as medical devices. Thus, a prescription is now needed. This was a good decision because if people could get them without a prescription, then people might be putting contact lenses made of inferior materials into their eye without a doctor knowing about it and have a lot of problems later.
Also, going to an eye doctor ensures that you get a good fit since they will measure your eyes. When the contacts fit right, they’re more comfortable and feel much better.
