The trick to selling timeshares is to make sure that you find the right selling price. If you bought your points or week from a developer, you probably paid a lot more than it is worth on the secondary resale market. While that might be a bit of bad news for you, if you can allow yourself to just deal with that fact you will have more success selling your timeshare.
It is very hard to find actual prices for what particular resorts have sold for. It isn’t like the real estate market where you can get comps because selling prices are public information. But one place that I find useful for research is Ebay. You can check completed auctions and they can give you a good idea of your timeshare’s value to actual buyers. Even if you don’t see your own resort listed in the completed sales, look for other comparable resorts that are nearby to get an idea of how to price yours.
