Having basic computer skills is an asset these days as it will help you get a job in an office, department store, or even factory. Computers are used everywhere so the person who becomes efficient at using them can get a better job than others who do not. Being computer literate can mean many things but at it’s basic level it means being able to turn on a computer, access the Internet, do a little word processing and being able to print a document.

However, to really excel at using a computer and become efficient you will need online computer training or hands on training to build your computer skills. If you want to go further with your computer knowledge you should consider learning how to build a database, or design a spreadsheet. You might also want to learn HTML so you can be able to design a website or blog. Or, maybe you will want to go into the computer field as a computer technician. In that case you will need to learn how to take a computer apart and troubleshoot software issues.

The level of computer knowledge you will need all depends on what you will be using the computer for.
