The importance of Dog Walking

No matter how much your pet loves his dog kennel he will soon become bored if left in it for too long each day.  Signs that your dog isn’t spending enough time being entertained are: whining and barking with no apparent reason and destruction of objects around the home or garden.

Dog walking at least once per day is vital for the wellbeing of your dog.  Firstly, dogs are naturally active animals with lots of energy dating back to when they spent their days hunting in packs.  They need to expend this energy somehow and if you don’t provide an outlet then they will turn to bad behaviour to get rid of it.  Large or particularly active dogs will need walking twice per day.

Secondly, dogs love to sniff!  They have an incredibly good sense of smell and for them sniffing new and exciting things on a walk is a bit like reading a newspaper is to us:  it gives us information and pleasure and is a relaxing form of entertainment.

Finally, when you are out on a walk your dog will get to meet other dogs and people and this social interaction is as vital to them as it is to us.  Imagine if you never got to talk to anyone else!  Dogs love to greet each other, have a good sniff and run around together.

If you can’t walk your dog as often as you would like due to long hours spent at work or an illness that makes walking difficult for you then you should start looking locally for someone who runs their own dog walking business.  Most towns and villages these days have professional dog walkers who can give your dog all the exercise and entertainment that he needs.  They will collect and return your dog to your home so there is no effort required on your part.

Since most styles in the home these days range from being in the modern style or contemporary style, you may want to purchase a kennel that will match the rest of the decor in the living area. With the specialty stores selling items such as stylish dog crates that can be matched to any type of decorating style for your home.

Once you get your pet’s pen home, you will want to choose an area of the home where you want to keep your furry friend. Some people do not mind having a dog kennel out in the open in their home. Some however would rather that it be put out of sight when required to be used in the home. However, if your pet is in the crate during times when there are people in the home, a crate that is out of the way and out of sight might be the best option. By keeping a lightweight, portable crate out of the way and out of sight when entertaining guests at your lavish dinner parties, you can feel better about not having a loud barking dog ruining your party from inside a crate that’s right by your guests. Then when the party is over, you can bring it back out for the dog to be part of the family all over again.
