Storms in Rural Areas and Heating

In rural areas, when those winter storms hit, it is not unusual to lose electrical power. If you use an electric heater, you will lose your heating. If you have propane heaters in your home, most do not depend on electrical power to heat the home. You will still be warm inside, even though you may not have television or lights. Having heat can not only provide for your own comfort, it can prevent pipes from freezing in the winter time. Of the choices you have for heat when living in a rural area, one choice that seems to make the most sense it choosing propane heaters to keep your home warm. Even if you have a propane central heating system or use a heat pump, you will want to have backup propane heaters for those days when the power goes off.
