The Natural Way to Treat Acne

Treating acne, even with over the counter preparations, can be a real pain. Many of the chemicals that are used are strong and can cause irritation and discomfort. There are, however, a number of acne natural solutions that are more gentle and as close as your pantry in many cases.

Lemon juice rubbed into the affected area is a time-tested way to eliminate unsightly acne and avoid the scarred skin that some treatments cause. The acid in lemon juice can sting a little if you have sensitive skin, but a few days treatment will leave it smooth, blemish free. Rubbing orange peel on the affected area is also effective, and unlike lemon juice, it doesn’t sting. Before rubbing, beat the peel with a pestle to release the juices inside. Again, a few days treatment should provide relief and eliminate all signs of the acne.

Cucumber rubs are a popular facial treatment for women who want soft, glowing skin. This vegetable can also remove acne, and frequent use will help prevent pimples and blackheads as well. To apply, slice a fresh cucumber, and gently rub it over your whole face, with particular emphasis on the acne affected areas.

An effective, but last resort, acne treatment is garlic. Rubbing fresh garlic over the affected area will help get rid of acne, but beware: it leaves an odor that clings, so it’s not recommended if you have a big social engagement scheduled.
