If you are in the market for a new fence to contain your dog, but you’re not able to put up a traditional wooden fence, underground dog fences may be the right thing for you. These fences use radio waves to contain your dog. They are deemed to be safe by the Humane Society for your dog.
An underground dog fence will require some labor, but they will be much less expensive than a traditional fence would cost. Then all you have to do is connect the transmitter to the wire and put the transmitter collar around your dog’s neck and set up the yellow flags to establish the perimeter of the yard. After that, you can let your dog go freely in his yard. Your dog will be curious about the flags in his yard and he will want to investigate. Because the flags are near the fence line, the transmitter will send a signal, telling the transmitter collar to sound off the beep. If your dog ignores the beep and crosses the fence line, he will receive a mild electrical shock. Once your dog does receive the shock a few times, they will associate the beeping sound with the shock and they will want to avoid any area that makes their collar beep. It is at this point that there trained and you can remove the flags and let your dog roam in his yard freely.
